Is it OK that Ta-Nahesi Coates did not present "both sides" in his chapter about Israel and Palestine in his new book?

It's ok to just skip this poll if you don't have an opinion
-
@evan
I find it strange to phrase the question this way. Did you read the book?I found his view to be a nuanced consideration of both sides, informed by both his experiences as a Black man living in the US, and the trips he has made to Israel and Palestine.

@PapyrusBrigade he's been widely criticized in the American press.

@PapyrusBrigade I did read the book. I have some opinions, which I will share when the poll is over.
-
@evan On this question, the conversation with Ezra Klein is very interesting.
-
@Matt_Noyes yes. I found Klein's initial insinuations kind of unfair. It felt like he was being put up to it. I like that they found common ground by the end.
-
@PapyrusBrigade @evan just finished the book, and I too don’t like the framing of the question. I think his account is perfectly legitimate for what he is trying to do within the framing of the book. I am aware of the media criticisms, but when I read the read I was surprised at how much empathy he had for the “other side”, at least for the genesis.
-
@chadkoh @PapyrusBrigade you should definitely make a new poll on your own account and use exactly the wording that you'd prefer.

Thanks all. I read this and found it profound, genuine, personal and moving. I did not miss having more or different perspectives. Strong yes from me.
