@Vivaldi Man!! what's wrong with you? Why are you ruining that unique Vivaldi UI? Don't try to be Chrome. Also why this browser auto-update even if I turned it off? I don't like the new UI so I turned off auto update but it updates itself every time. So what's the point of that option!!
The new features are very cool and useful but the UI sucks.

@Vivaldi None of the official documentation has helped me understand what on Earth is a floating tab.
-
@Vivaldi All the round corners - I hope you won't get sued by iApple!
-
That's one thing I've come to appreciate about Vivaldi. They will introduce UI changes, but they give you the option to keep it like it was *through the settings*.
I like the compact view better, with no rounded corners, so that's how I'm keeping it for now.
I know they also allow CSS modifications (via vivaldi://experiments), but I haven't needed to use them yet. For Firefox, it was a necessity.

Another thing I appreciate is the new icons on the side toolbar. The previous ones were nice but half the time I wasn't sure what things were and had to rely on the tooltip.
Now it's more obvious what each one represents.

@Vivaldi Unfortunately 1 thing is missing: Vivaldi used to be able to follow the system theme. Now it's just... grey

@carturo222 Check out https://tips.vivaldi.net/tip-581/. The new tab design is part of the user interface density setting.

@Vivaldi is it finally possible to press CMD+SHIFT+C without focusing the dev tools to select an element like in every major browser? This is (as dev) literally the only thing that prevents me from using Vivaldi longer than 10 minutes.
-
@Vivaldi comparing this browser to Brave, Vivaldi crashes websites constantly with dead bird logo. Itβs been a frustrating experience
-
@Vivaldi Il video rifiuta di caricare, quindi non riesco a vederlo, sarΓ la piattaforma? Non ho estensioni installate in Vivaldi

@gh0sti
We're sorry for the trouble.
Please try the troubleshooting steps on https://help.vivaldi.com/desktop/troubleshoot/troubleshooting-issues/ to see if you can solve the issue on your own. It's possible that an Extension or Ad Blocker list is causing the issue.
If that doesn't help, please report which websites crash on https://vivaldi.com/bugreport/. -
@kaiserkiwi Try mapping the keyboard shortcut to "Toggle Developer Tools" command in Settings > Keyboard > Window.
-
@gavin57 We've confirmed the bug. Hopefully a dev can look into it soon.

@Anibyl Which OS are you on?

@Vivaldi That's not exactly what I meant. I described it more in this post.

One thing that is really annoying when trying to get away from Google as a work Browser: The shortcut CMD+SHIFT+C. In Chrome, Firefox and Safari the shortcut does exactly the same. Opening the Dev-Tools and instantly start the picker mode. Arc? Copies the current URL. If I change the Shortcut to at least open the Dev-Tools I have to press it CMD+SHIFT+C to start the selection. But the worst part is, I can't use this shortcut directly on the page, I always have to focus the Dev-Tools again. So its always CMD+SHIFT+C twice⦠In Vivaldi the shortcut isn't used outside of the Dev-Tools. But I can, like Arc, set it to CMD+SHIFT+C. But then the handling is exactly the same as in Arc⦠Sadly I need the Chromium Dev Tools and some Extensions, so Firefox and Safari are off the table here. With the latest developments Firefox is off the table anyways⦠That's just so frustrating. It's just one Shortcut, but I use it so extremely often, that I depend on it⦠And if someone recommends Brave, they get blocked. No⦠#Coding #WebDev #Browser #Chromium

@kaiserkiwi
Have you detached Dev Tools from the main browser window?
In that case the element selector indeed doesn't work with CMD+SHIFT+C without focusing on the Dev Tools window first. When Dev Tools are docked to the side of the window, it works the same way as in Chrome. -
@Vivaldi I indeed have it detached, as I work like this for years. I often use multiple Dev-Tool windows, so I need this functionality.
Is it a bug, that this doesnβt work? And if not, why is it implemented this way?

@kaiserkiwi
Yeah, it's a bug.
