I'll be honest.

I'll be honest. My thoughts are more focused on how the European Idea is undermined by the fear for far right tendencies and how European governments are happily throwing a wrecking ball at the freedoms we fought hard for. The US election is relevant, but not defining for me. I live in Europe and I want us to become more of a united Europe and not fall back into a bunch of nation states fighting with each other instead of together for higher goals.

Well, Vlad P (of Moscow) will make sure we stay somewhat united. Or else.
Except for Orban.
My fear is this: the fascist candidate is elected in Washington. NATO disappears into thin air.
Vlad P (pick one or more) (_) invades Lithuania and Estonia, (_) threatens Moldova, (_) crushes Georgia.
And then, the spineless politicians of the EU all decide: "There is nothing we can do about it, move along people, nothing to see here".
That would be the end of the EU.

@ParadeGrotesque Yep, which is why I think it is more important to fix Europe instead of being driven by others that ultimately don't care about us anyway.

@jwildeboer I just think a DJT presidency would be disastrous also for Europe. But I agree with everything else you said.

@martinpallmann I know for a fact that in Brussels plans are being made to shield the EU as best as possible from a new Trump term. NATO is also very aware and I am quite relieved to have Rutte at the top there, as I trust his dutch approach to be reassuring. Europe means a lot to me.
