#trans people - I could use some #advice please! I had a friend tell me today that they’re trans and plan to come out at work in the next few weeks.
For those of you who transitioned while remaining in the same job before and after, are there things your coworkers did (or you wished they did) that helped support you? Are there things that well-intentioned people did that ended up hurting?
I want to make sure I can be as supportive as I can and avoid missteps! Thank you in advance!

@andytinkham ask them if they want, and if yes how, you can know in what circles they are outed.
keep track of that and support them, in both "spaces" accordingly. -
@andytinkham Just continue work as usual. If they change name, use it. If they change pronouns, use them. Really try to not screw up. But if you mess up on either, just say sorry and correct yourself and move on.
The best thing was not having anything happen. Not having a bunch of attention. Not having a spotlight on me. Just accept it and move forward.
The worst thing was being accidentally dead named 18 months in.
