I'm thinking about doing more coverage of super automatic, "bean to cup" espresso machines on CoffeeGeek, starting this fall and continuing into 2025.

So I have a poll question for you. Is this content you want to see, on brands like Gaggia, Jura, Bosch, Saeco, and more, who produce machines that brew a variety of coffee drinks with one button push?

@coffeegeek Years ago I was looking into this kind of machine and was very frustrated with the reviews. All they talked about was buttons, features, display etc. but not about how the coffee tasted!
So I wish for a focus on the embedded grinder and brew groups. And if the 300$ machine has exactly the same grinder and brew group as the $2000 machine, then that’s what I want to know.

@ericteubert In the past I have quizzed companies on this very specific question (namely, Gaggia, Jura, and Delonghi). All three basically refused to answer it directly. I got stuff like "this upgraded, that tweaked, this better gaskets, that increased capacity".
no "it's an entirely different brew group" or "all the components are metal" or stuff like that.

@coffeegeek Thanks for trying Sounds to me like when all you are looking for is black coffee, the cheapest option might often be as good as the most expensive one, at least within the same brand. They just won’t say it directly.

@ericteubert I'm actually afraid to take most super autos apart myself, they are so complex inside.
That said, I'm looking to arrange to get a few entry level machines this winter to test and review, all under $1K; I might do it to them, to give the inside scoop.
