Having them in the general browser feels very convoluted and makes me rather ignore them despite my interest. I once used Tangram, however that one managed to crash my whole desktop for some really weird reason.

If possible, look for rss/atom endpoints for your forums, or a simple web2rss parser. That way you can set up a reader-app to get updates and filter accordingly, no browser needed. -

@Natanox oh my word this triggered a memory of the dumbest hack I did as a kid. If you copied Firefox.exe and then opened the copy with a hex editor, there was byte you could change that would make it so they were treated as two completely different apps. Changed the icon of the copy so it would feel like an entirely separate/new app.
Don't even remember my use case. Is this kind of what you're talking about? A distinct app that's basically a forum focused web browser?

@Xoriff I mean, that's what I could do with profiles nowadays. I was thinking more of a simplified webview app where I add different websites to a sidebar list, without URL bar or anything.

@Nicro Like, is there some way to modify Firefox so it looks similar to the pre-3.0 look of Tangram? @Xoriff
The sidebar was since removed in favor of a Tab Overview, which makes it pointless for me since it's even less comfy to use than a full browser. I need to see all of the webapps at a glance.
Just realized the maintainer of Tangram is here as well. Hey @sonny, in case others already requested to bring the old sidebar back (perhaps as optional setting)β¦ I would really love that too.
