Here is the first and last parts of the statement emailed to NDP supporters from David Eby. It is clear he believes he will continue as Premier and be working with the Green Party.I will try to find Rustad’s and Furstenau’s.
“My friends, this has been a close and hard-fought campaign.
We’ve waited a long time for the results. And it looks like we’re going to have to wait a little longer.
…….
While we disagree on many things, John Rustad raised important issues during the campaign and spoke to real frustrations, particularly around crime and public safety. On this, we agree: everyone should feel safe in their community.I spoke with Sonia Furstenau. I congratulated her on a thoughtful campaign, focused on ideas. Sonia and I share a lot of the same values. And I committed to working together with her on our common priorities, including tackling climate change.
My friends, the campaigning is over, the work has just begun.
People are facing tough challenges out there right now. Our team will focus on working across party lines to make life for you and your family better.
We will roll up our sleeves and come together in the best interests of British Columbians.
To make sure this is a place where everyone can build a good life. Where you don’t just get by — you get ahead.
Where you can find a decent home and a family doctor. Where your kids are safe and supported at school. Where your parents have dignity and security in retirement. Where we build a stronger economy that works better for you, not in spite of climate action, but because of it. And where we do all of this in renewed partnership with First Nations and Indigenous Peoples.
So all our boats rise together.
I’m looking forward to the work ahead.
Our work, together.
Thank you.
David

@chris I wanted minority BC NDP with BC Greens retaining minimum of 2 seats to hold accountability to power in the leg.
I'm just worried about the fact far right got so many votes. The Cons who lied about being a doctor got thousands of votes. Apparently we have a lot of BC folks who fell for disinformation campaigns. That is dangerous. -

@chris How exactly do we deal with this, from grassroots citizens levels? The folks that voted for Cons are part of our communities. I don't expect easy answers. Just something to think about.

@PhoenixSerenity Whatever the answer(s), it’ll be a long process.

@PhoenixSerenity @chris it's that swing - left/right - anything for change. Change for change's sake, that has done so much harm in BC politics.

IMO much of this divisiveness and flipping back and forth can be traced to FPTP. Under PR with more than two parties in play the swings should be less radical. If you look at the actual vote distributions from election to election its not really that big. But under FPTP a couple of percentage points means a complete flip in who has ALL the power.
