@SeaFury Yes. It's depressing how the older they get the less they're willing to learn from me and instead just want to learn from their (as clueless as them) friends. I guess it's part of growing up.

@rubenerd Let's not fall into the trap of generalizations and "not all." Of course when we talk about generational things, "not all." We're talking about general trends. Not all Gen Xers are computer-literate, and not all younger or older generations are not, it's about fractions of these populations and how large these fractions are.

@David @SeaFury Eventually, and hopefully not too late, the kids finally work out that their parents know stuff worth knowing... my first victory was getting my kids into listening to Toyah and Pink Floyd... still working on their computer skills (to them its just a YouTube delivery mechanism FFS, but at least they watch some mildly educational stuff on it)

@David @rubenerd @SeaFury I'm going to ponder: to different generations (and even whether people within the cohort are early, mid, or late members), the term computer-literate (and internet) means different things. Just being able to turn on a smart phone and use FB, IG, X, etc., does not mean you are computer-literate to some people, but to others it does. #GenX #GrayBeard #RetroComputing

@GuyDudeman @vmstan @SeaFury I'm 41 and consider myself X or Xennial but not Millennial. The original Harvard standard cut it off at 1984 and I can't be in the same gen as people who don't remember 9/11 and the Gulf War.
