Tiny toy chainsaws for the community engagement kit.
They really simulate the starting process (chain brake on, set to run, pull the cord) and make a running noise while the rubber ‘chain’ goes around, so we’re getting the kids excited about safe cross-cut operations
-
@liamvhogan hello yes hi I want one
-
Aside: the chainsawing technique of Doomguy in the original Id software games is terrible. He dips the bar as he uses it, so as to ‘point’ the tip and top quadrant into the monsters. That’s a guaranteed way to get chain kickback, and he needs to use the lower half of the bar

@liamvhogan “Braydyn, stop chainsawing your sister!”
-
@MattHatton your oldest must have a birthday coming up some time between now and next September. You know what she wants

@liamvhogan not even a good technique to letterbox cut them.
Aside: recent wind storms have produced a decent amount of fallen timber. Free accomodation to friends with chainsaws and a few hours to help out. I reckon I have a dozen decent sized black wattles, some grey box, some stringy, and odds and ends that needs turning into 4' logs or rounds.
It's going to take me weeks.

@trib after Doomguy finishes the level, comes the log splitting and the packing of the trailer
-
@liamvhogan see, I can “hire” the 7x5 trailer and the 30t splitter from the Cobargo Tool Triangle for $30/week. So long as I have broken up wood, I am happy to split. And then I can hand split the big suff into usable bits.

@trib alas I know too well that manual splitting is a) a two person job and b) a hard, crappy job for both of the persons
