Oh dear.
Just saw another YTer doing their "goodbye" videos. Packing it in after 3 o 4 years of doing YT stuff.
I mean, I'm 23 years in and still going strong.
Maybe there's a big difference between someone else hosting your shite, having to deal with their constant hoops, crap payments, algorithms, yada yada, and actually hosting your own content, and being responsible for your own income sources.
Plus, to be fair, YT commenters are super toxic. I could see how that wears people down.
-
@coffeegeek Never understood the toxicity there, what's that about?
-
How was their coffee intake?
Too Little? Too much?
The intranets will be more fun when we get back to making it ourselves without big business involved so much, IMHO. Like coffee perhaps.
-
@danhugo @coffeegeek you think that'll actually happen? getting big business off the internet? i'm intrigued to know your thought process there. (like seriously, not trying to be snarky.)

@timrichards Mainly years and years buildup of keyboard warriors who just like to shit on people bold enough to actually put an opinion out on video, when they themselves would never stick their neck out like that in a public way.
