First impressions of the Sydney Metro.
-
I am now on a train. Hell yeah train. Seats deprioritised, standing is the thing. Did we mention acceleration? Cop this shit #SydneyMetro
-
Martin Place Station and it feels wrong for it not have the three station names in Glorious Seventies. And for the carriage not to smell at some level of human sweat #SydneyMetro
-
Aside: appreciations to my high school teacher who made the ancient joke about his religious devotions; ‘doing the Stations of the Cross every week’. That’s heritage #SydneyMeteo

@ben_hr exactly! Unless I can smell someone else’s armpit how can I truly appreciate the fine granularity of the urban space
-
Victoria Cross Station, it’s the North Shore but modernist. Good. Nice #SydneyMetro
-
THREE ESCALATORS [ululates] #SydneyMetro
-
Ok that’s done! I’m impressed by the architecture, I’m spatially disoriented, I’m awed by velocity and that’s all anyone can really expect of a metro #SydneyMetro
-
And now glorious Swans
-
@liamvhogan (is this Vic Cross?) There’s more than 3 at the south end once you’re above platform level and there’s 4 (iirc) high speed lifts at the north end. Come on mate. You can Sydney post better than this.
-
@liamvhogan I’m playing a gig in the Gong. Cheer extra loud for me. I’m devo’d to be missing it.
-
@thewetmale I love the whole thing
-
@thewetmale @liamvhogan How good are they on a scale from one to whatever the fuck is doing at Wynyard
-
@dryobbo @thewetmale mate it makes Wynyard look like a disgusting slum. Mind you it did before
-
@liamvhogan @dryobbo I love trains as much as the next man but the old trains going to the city via Wollstonecraft and Waverton already feels kind of sad it’s that good.

@liamvhogan 2 third of the way only
-
@liamvhogan the older stations I’ve been commuting from in Macquarie Park started this trend years before the Metro and I’m still not happy about it. If I’m underground I want to feel like I’m in a mine dammit, not a missile silo
-
@fsvo nope! The spirit of Albert Speer rules here and you will march across expanses of marble
-
Sydney metro: fast, modern, civilised
Sydney buses: fight your way on, there’s a woman swigging from a bottle of white wine, and a man has an actual bin bag of garbage
-
I am team Bus all the way FWIW
