Thinking a not insignificant number of North Korean soldiers, if not turned into a red mist, are probably going to surrender at first contact with hardened Ukraine forces who are surely primed and focused on making a direct and specific example of them.

Thinking a not insignificant number of North Korean soldiers, if not turned into a red mist, are probably going to surrender at first contact with hardened Ukraine forces who are surely primed and focused on making a direct and specific example of them. They will have been propagandised into stupidity while none are likely to have ever been in a hot war zone. It will also be in interesting insight into NK capability or lack thereof.

As I was saying. Straight into the meat grinder. Those poor young men.
'The soldiers, thought to be mostly in their teens or early 20s, have been trained in mountainous North Korea and have no experience of the large, flat battlefields of Ukraine, according to experts."

@spinopsys I blame @Trevor here - I'm sceptical
That 'analysis' article quotes only other Guardian articles. The articles quoted almost always cite only US sources. Do you have any other sources?
Surely someone's seen troop trains? Satellite pictures of deployments? Ukrainian drone pictures, even?
The numbers also seem to vary, starting with 1500 and then 3000 and then 5000 and then 8000 and possibly even 10,000 people.
I don't really see the point in a propaganda war here - it's not like we needed more reason to denounce Russia's attack on Ukraine. I'm not sure why they'd be making up this even just to make it look good.
But I'm wary of just believing US sources.

@PaulWay @Trevor sure and no but the reason I posted about it earlier and the link today is that the idea NK bodies thrown at Ukraine would be impactful in any way is unlikely. As for the idea it’s not true or not at scale, I know as much as anyone else reading about it. But the same opinion exists. American propaganda or otherwise It’s a big nothing but if there are young men being thrown unprepared into battle then I can only feel for their futures and the horror of it. Old men sending young men to die for no good reason is always something to be lamented.

@spinopsys @PaulWay @Trevor w/r/t American intelligence in the press, it has been notoriously correct since late 2021 about almost everything in that area of the world, they did everything but pick the invasion date
