It's happening! My book about Mastodon and the fediverse is now entering the production phase!

@rwg Whether or not one is charged is publisher dependant. Surely you can see what a bad look it is to publish a book about open things where the book itself is not open?

@rwg
Insta-buy when it's out! The topics are very relevant.If I may though, I don't like the free mention you gave in "... or How to Vaporize Elon Musk", i don't think he deserves such prominent placement, or that it's ultimately about him at all. Fine to write about him in the book of course, but I feel like it would be better to mention @Gargron, @dansup and other creators so prominently in chapter titles themselves.

@rwg this looks great and very interesting, let me know whether there is anything I can do to support!

@rwg a window with bird anti-collision stickers on it. Through the window you can see a solarpunk-ish cityscape featuring a pachyderm slowly walking across a bridge.

@jboy that's pretty spot on!

@Ooze I have been agonizing over the OA/traditional book question for months. I will definitely explain my reasoning, and I hope you'll see I'm not doing this lightly. I have published much of my work -- which focuses on FOSS and internet cultures -- OA. That is mostly journal articles, though. Books are a different thing altogether, as I will write about soon.

@bougiewonderland Do you mean this?
If that license is correct (CC0), then yes, it could be used.
(I don't imagine the press would spring for a hologram version, though! )
