Normally, yes, but in that instance, teasers are stripped of all markup, and that would include the mentions as well.

Hey @kartic,

I don't add additional spacing because it would break the word flow if you were using a mention in a sentence, or with immediate punctuation.

For example, the mention I did at the top of this post has a comma immediately following it, so if there was a space, I think it would not look so good!
