suppose you have topics without any reply to it, actually this topic has only one post,
you can't move this post to another existing topics

only can move hole the topics to another category and again you can't merge two topics!

@sanatisharif it's easier to recreate the post in the new topic than creating a plugin for it.

and there is no point in creating multiple topics for the same thing. The answer is NO. There is no plugin that merges topics and the functionality is not available in core.

In fact, I talk about upgrading the database design of nodebb forum, for the next version, do not get me wrong.

I showed a little issue to introduce a major weakness. so we can improve nodebb database design.

The strength of the current design is that, now you can easily move topics,
 because in practice there are no dependencies between topics and categories.
 (Each category is just a container for topics, nothing more)

I think this policy should be applied to posts and topics, in which case you can apply any changes on posts and topics easily.

so you have better design, tell me if i'm wrong!

In my opinion, allowing this would be a major weakness in itself.
Unless I misunderstood what you're saying @sanatisharif - you want to be able to take a topic with no replies and add it as a post to an existing topic?
Why not just let the lonely topic be, and die of age on it's own?
Or at least lock it, either automatically by means of a plugin/setting (old topics goes out of date) - it just feels wrong somehow

I'm taking about better** database design** and better user experience:

A practical example:
Suppose you have 10 topics in each one chapter of "x" is taught, I think it is better that they come together to teach full "x" to have a complete topic.

@sanatisharif I am not saying asking for a feature is wrong. You don't have to create 5 topics asking for the same thing. Creating multiple topics is not going to help anyone or it's not going to be implemented for you right away.

If you think a feature may be useful then, create an issue on the NodeBB github page. https://github.com/nodebb/nodebb/issues

The NodeBB team will take a look and decide if it belongs in the core or not.
