If you setup a PDS you still rely on a BIG part of the Bsky services for it to even work

Not by a loooong shot is it something standalone like Mastodon for example

@markstos @lakelady @stux The reason moderators block whole instances is that it saves them moderation work. We are a tiny volunteer group and we can't do Zuck's work for him.

Because I caught only the tail end of the conversation, can you explain in a sentence what Threads are doing wrong, or might do wrong? I'm not a Meta fan, but also not a fan of blocking others, so curious on the details of why?
