Emoji now federating out

We have emoji!
I like emoji, I like them quite a bit. I grew up using emoticons (gosh, remember those?), and definitely love to sprinkle them in my forum responses.
If you've been following me since I've been contributing to the fediverse, you might've thought I eschewed emoji, but let's put that misconception to rest
Thanks to the hard work by @PitaJ, NodeBB now federates emoji used in posts outward to remote instances. This works across all emoji packs (android, apple, cubicopp, etc.) available to the emoji plugin, and also includes custom added emoji
This is a two-way integration, so custom emoji served by other instances are also picked up by NodeBB and displayed properly in posts.
You might notice that the emoji I use are all blobs. It's the default emoji set for all NodeBB instances, because blobs are amazing and it's a travesty Google decided to move away from them.
Long live the blobmoji
@julian Hey, they display fine. There's no :not_working_emoji: in the post like you're used to see all around.

this is still super cool though. nodebb has rocketed up my list of "software to try selfhosting" (it was already pretty high on my list but I forgot about it)
edit: the attachments aren't shown - i replied on the nodebb side to embed the images and i'm very curious how that shows up on my instance.
edit2: now the attachments are shown on nodebb, i'm not sure if that's because I needed to wait a little or if they showed up after I edited this post

@[email protected] yeah! Right now custom emoji (or emoji at all, rather) in usernames aren't shown.
That's because NodeBB itself doesn't support emoji in usernames so it's a bit of a bigger project
It's possible though, just not as high on our priorities right now.

@julian i i wish these were just inline images but from a practical standpoint it's nice that we have them at all
