Images in 'World' posts not always showing

Im not sure if this something that is not working, in v4?
Curious as seeing a pattern, of no images in opening posts.
For example:
I am following a photographer and in his World posts when he says
I took a photo of (whatever) etc
There is no photo attached to any of his initial posts.

As a comparison, if I view that first Toot on Mastodon, I do see the included image..

Bumping for attention of @julian as dont know if he has seen this in practice?
and if theres an explanation / solution ?

Getting those pictures to work as topic thumbnails, or inline images has been troublesome. I've been making some progress though.

You can see that the image was found and saved as the topic thumbnail, ~~although it is not shown in-post.~~

~~I will make the change so that the image is also shown in-post.~~

@eeeee Do you have the link preview plugin installed? The images show up fine if that plugin is installed and activated.

Yes I have link preview installed.
Im not even getting thumbnails, but I see its working on this site.
Im still running the original v4.0 alpha, have there been updates since?

@eeeee yes, the activitypub branch receives updates daily

I updated and thumbnails are showing now, but not pictures in post.
Its hard to tell what version Im running, it doesnt say in Admin Panel, like it did when on v3.8.4
Would it be worth giving these updates numbers to identify them? Like v4.0.2 etc?

Potentially but I don't make tags/releases for the ActivityPub branch as you probably want to just follow the latest until release.

See if it works better now for new posts.

@eeeee using the latest version of both activitypub branch and link-preview, the images seem to be showing up ok.

I did find a bug where editing a post caused the pictures to disappear, oops! That's fixed in the latest link-preview plugin version, 2.0.11.
