[email protected] yeah right, I’m sure that survey will have an impact. Groups like that are total bottom feeders, and some of them are actually right-wing grifters pretending to be dem grifters. The Bad Washington Privacy Act is long gone - we stopped it four times in a row, despite intense lobbying from MS and Amazon who are not without influence here in Washington. It got pretty ugly: disinfo from a DC-based industry-funded “privacy” organization, legislative maneuvers that even experienced people had never seen before, a state senator who represented Amazon holding a bill with money for eviction prevention hostage to try to force it through … good times. But eventually they gave up, and in 2023 we passed a very strong health data privacy bill instead. Yay! Unfortunately will this was happening several other states passed versions of the bill, including the Even Worse Virginia Privacy Act and the Slightly Better But Still Not Good Colorado Privacy Act. More positively the legislator who called my partner by mistake helped pass the Shield Law which means WA companies can’t share health or location data with law enforcement in states that criminalize abortion or gender-affirming health care. Grassroots activism FTW!
