@pawan-patil You are able to modify the source code and use it on your own site. You are only limited if you are intending to redistribute the code. If you intend to, then you must also open-source your changed code. If in doubt, you'll want to contact a lawyer to review the GPLv3 license that comes with NodeBB.

The API route doesn't render a template. It just outputs the JSON that is passed into render. You can test this by prepending /api on any route, you'll see JSON output. The purpose of this is for the AJAX loading of the next page.

Definitely not in 1.7.2 since that's being released this week. Using Webpack at this point would require, essentially, a complete rewrite. That's a lot of work.

@Helix -- every route in NodeBB has a read-only API accessible by prepending the route with /api. If you want to POST to NodeBB, you'll want to look at the write API, which has its own documentation
