I see that more communication with the user is an area for growth in the reputation-voting-privileges ecosystem.

• Notifying users when they have accumulated enough reputation to access priviledges including upvote, downvote, profile photo, cover photo, AboutMe, website, and signature.
• Including specifics in voting error messages. Currently the error messages are generic ("you don't have enough rep") but the user would really appreciate knowing how far they have to go ("you need x more rep before you can upvote") and it gives the user a clear goal if they choose to accept the challenge.

I hope these are reasonable suggestions.

@thebronx I experienced some difficulties receiving v1.2.3 but it is now installed. I tested it using a dummy account and I really appreciate the higher level of communication that this version provides. I know the users will also.

It doesn't seem like there is a lot of momentum for a Newbie Tutorial. Perhaps there could be a "User Guide" with the essentials for setting up and managing a NodeBB forum? A lot of the admin interface is self-explanatory, which I appreciate. Some of it is not self-explanatory. Perhaps a User Guide would focus on that stuff. Regardless, NodeBB customer support is very helpful and responsive via email.

After messaging NodeBB support directly, here is my current understandings of "group chat" in the realm of NodeBB forums:

Organic group chats can be created at anytime by any users through the chat feature.

Official forum GROUPS can share a group forum private conversation that is exclusive of the other members if the admin sets up a category with permissions specific to that GROUP.

@julian I could see that being a useful plugin feature. Settings might include the amount of time and the amount of posts required to keep the account from being automatically deleted. I imagine I would set it so that all accounts without posts would be deleted after 30 days.

In the meantime, I should be able to manage the process manually. I wish I could sort or filter users by more than one field at a time, which would make that process so much easier. Is there a way for me to do that?

After a considerable learning process, I have v1.2.2 up and running well. Thanks to @TheBronx for reviving this great plug-in. I feel it adds another dimension to the forum experience.

I contacted NodeBB directly via email and this was the reply:

"The red x near the username, email and ip means that particular value has been seen in the stopforumspam's database. This indicates that particular user might be a spammer. For example if all 3 are red it's likely this is spam user. A green checkmark means the value isn't in stopforumspam's database."

This seems like a very useful aspect of the registration queue. I wish that this system was also applied to the main user list.

@gotwf I really appreciate your hands-on research, analysis, and thorough report. Prior to reading it I was feeling very solid about my new "delete after 30 days accounts without posts" policy. If an account appears to be totally harmless, then I could assume that it is and allow some space for folks to have a bit of anonymity, hidden among a myriad of mysterious accounts. Snowden showed us in black and white who the real stalkers are.

@thebronx I like the feature. It does make sense. I would personally like to be able to manage the percentage. Everything else looks good to me as it is.

I did not open an issue on Github because plugin-reputation-rules is revived and offers this feature.

After learning that writing a custom script was currently the only way to sift, sort, and filter users by more than one field; and after deciding that I am not up for that right now, I dove back in to slog through my user list for pruning. To my pleasant surprise I found that when I sorted the list by POSTCOUNT it was also sorted by JOINED, automatically! Either a NodeBB angel updated the user list sort functions or I am just seeing life from a different perspective. Yay! Pruning done in no time.

@thebronx I would definitely be using this plugin if it were updated for compatibility. I realize this plugin and thread is aged so I won't hold my breath.

I see a recent topic that seems to suggest that there is a "Group Chat" feature. And I think I saw a "group chat" setting in my new v1.18.

Having a "chat room" for a group sounds great. What is the current procedure for making that happen?

@dunlix Ok, I see your example and I tried it myself now. The use of * to add members to a group is interesting. From what I see, it throws up a random list of 24 users. This is a solid solution to "How to add users to groups in Bulk". Personally, I was looking for a solution that supported intentional selection of a large group (700+) of users selected by specific criteria.
