Broadly...
The main crank bearing's retainer cage had broken, bearings and bits of cage circulated, a couple of gears severely damaged. I'm surprised it went as far as it did. A shop fix wouldn't have been economical. 7 months, 2 mates, new bearings, some gears, and bits and bobs, and it's about to be reregistered and head off on new adventures. Doing the work themselves saved him bucket loads, giving him a solid, cheap bike - perfect for heading bush.
He's resurrected it!
Some of you may remember my despair last year when my Suzuki DR650 died, stranding me outback. In Feb I sold the remains as a parts bike, horrible noises, not going, partly dismantled, missing non-key bits.
Even as he looked he started talking about fixing it, and I discouraged him.
Today, out of the blue, he contacted me - all fixed, has a NSW blue slip, ready for rego! I'm really glad he fixed it, and really glad I didn't do the work.
Oh look, it's back on our deck
Now in close up.
Kookaburra sits in the old gum tree
Nek minnit - lunch! Something with a tail. Based on size, I'd guess a lizard.
Our more frequent dinosaur based visitors didn't mind it sitting there, but panicked when it flew. Kookaburras) eat some bird's young (amongst other things).
We have a couple of kookaburras drop by regularly to enjoy a hearty laugh at our expense , but not in the numbers I've seen further west.

No. They must appear on an approved list of bikes. Max capacity 660cc, max power to weight 150kW per tonne, ebikes up to 25kW. No mods, even if they don't make the bike exceed power to weight (eh, Dave...)
NSW page, supposedly national rules, has link to "the list":
Planning to get your rider licence? Make sure you know what you're legally allowed to ride as a learner, P1 or P2 provisional rider.

It was a bit of a laugh. You could ride anything on your Ls. You could get booked on your Ls, but without a licence, you couldn't lose it. You could also lose your car or bike licence, and keep using the one you didn't lose.
Tests were a joke. 2 ueys, then I rode around the block & saw the tester running to watch me from another view. "Did you do anything wrong" "ummm... No?" (I forgot to indicate) "passed"
Loopholes all closed now!
WTF? that's harsh. If you boosted your Grom to 46hp, fair enough (and get yourself to Honda's MotoGP team, stat!), but 10? That's just the law demonstrating that the law is an ass. I'm not sure if that's US for arse, or donkey. Either fits.
