@Minghui-Yu we use both redis and mongo to get clustering benefits. It's a cloud setup with a couple of front ends. We don't actually use a lot of memory, as clustering takes care of that.
@scottalanmiller your traffic amounts are bigger than ours. And yes, our numbers are bigger because we moved over to NodeBB (Excellent choise that started out as a lunch table discussion about what a colleague had seen on the net the previous evening)
I don't think ours is the biggest, but this needs to have some starting point.

My guess is that gaming some forum dwarfs that by on order of magnitude.

We are running a big community site with NodeBB (close to 25000 members but a lot less posts, only some hundred thousands). Both Redis and Mongo set up so we can cluster the system. Initially we tried to set up just redis on a small test machine, but got no human perceivable performance difference to the clustered set-up.
Works beautifully and is way faster than what we had previously.
I have a strange bug 
Users who have more than 3000 (maybe the line 1000, but I didn't ask so many users, and users have been imported from our old forum to NodeBB) are seeing their post count updated wrong sometimes right after posting a comment to a topic.
The wrong number is only shown right after the post and is corrected on any reload.

I asked a couple of long time users, and it seems that the post number is their current post number / 1000 +1. And when testing one thread, it seems to grow by one if the user doesn't reload in between.
It's not a real problem, more of a strange/funny bug.
We run 0.6.x in a cluster setup (redis+mongo), if that has any impact.

We are running NodeBB (0.6.1) scaled to several machines, and it works wonderfully.
The only thing I have been wondering about is the reported number of guest users as reported in the users page. On two different browsers on different machines, I see a different number of guests browsing the site. Does the online guest count come from the server instance or is it read from redis?

It really looks like garbage collection or some other process is making the site crawl for a short while about once a day.
@pichalite we are running a cluod system, where we actually need to add those to packages. Basically a similar situation as with the heroku install. (Btw That's a really good page in the docs)

As said all feedback has been really positive.
We are seeing an occasional 504 error, and think it might be or connection handling (haproxy in front). So looking at clustering to ease the load.

We got our forum migrated to NodeBB.
And now we are wondering about clustering.
Our setup is NodeBB v0.6.x and Mongo as the database.
The docs say that Redis is necessary for clustering, but I can't find any info on how to add a Redis instance into an existing NodeBB+Mongo setup.
Anyone have experience on this?
Also will the Redis requirement for clustering still be there in 0.7.0?
0.7.0 looks really promising, and we'll definitely update once it's stable.

I've been working on migrating an existing forum to nodebb and have the last steps left.
I did a working test import and everything looks good.
We are running NodeBB 0.6.1 on Mongo
Now I would like to empty the database from users and discussions, while keeping all the settings I've made. The ACP is not an option, as there are quite a lot of users and discussions.
Is there a simple way to do this?

I'll move us back to 0.6.1 from 0.6.x. It isn't a big operation, we anyway need to run a full import into a clean database when we do the final move.
The experience with NodeBB has been really good.

This is mostly a theoretical question, as the intention is to have OAuth only for logging in.
But now in the testing phase that would benefit from using some of the accounts locally.

I'm facing the same problem.
I'm trying to migrate a medium/large size forum (import plugin system is fantastic!).
As I now try to reset passwords, I get the mail, but the password reset form does nothing (it does complain correctly on too short passwords). During the import, I left the password fields empty.
The events on ACP do not show anything coming in.
I'm on 0.6.x updated this morning.
New user creation works ok.
Editing to say that I'm running on Mongo if that has any impact.
