@Lottie Ohhh, my bad, got it. No, not at all! It's a hashtag I've seen people use when asking questions online.
Sorry about the confusion!

Ohh, of course, #AskALibrarian. Added that to https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/people-powered-analogue-technology/
@Lottie Are you referring to https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/people-powered-analogue-technology/? That was a quote from https://www.applevis.com/forum/other-apple-chat/alt-text-adventures-ai-vs-human-descriptions
Unless I'm missing something?
I'd love to collect more examples!
People over (lying) machines.

What are some good examples of people putting in extra effort where some might see "AI" as the solution?
Things I've seen:
- people narrating their blogs instead of using text-to-speech (would love to see more examples, feel free to post links!)
- folks using the Alt4Me and Alt4You hashtags to request and provide missing image descriptions, respectively
Addendum: I shouldn't say "useless", I suppose. The thread I linked to actually disproves that claim, as some people do find value here.
But I genuinely just feel bad that that's often the only option.
@jalcine @molly0xfff Nice!
Now I want to create a directory of blogs that do that
Yes, there are cases where, putting aside its environmental impact for a moment, AI does have practical use. But unless you can verify that the text it generates is correct, it's pretty much useless.

A great response to the hype around "AI" is more "people-powered, analogue tech".
I love how @jalcine records himself reading his blog posts, instead of using a robotic, impersonal text-to-speech translator.
For image descriptions, there are great resources on https://alttexthalloffame.org, plus the "Alt4Me" hashtag, if you need help.

@cybeardjm Nice!
I should maybe add some context. https://ignoreallpreviousinstructions.net
"The LINC (Laboratory INstrument Computer) [...] is considered by some to be the first minicomputer and a forerunner to the personal computer."
via @computers
@amaditalks It's basically a way to short-circuit an "AI"-powered chatbot.

@davidaugust Fair point!
And thank you!
@atthenius That makes a lot of sense!
@davidaugust Do you think https://jointhefediverse.net would be a useful resource to share?
Between the rise of the fediverse, and people learning about prompt injections, computers are fun again.
Oh wait, I'm at 50 now. https://stefans-creative-bots.glitch.me
Please enjoy @computers.
There is also @ignoreallpreviousinstructions, the bot version!
