@emsquared It probably started as someone's 20% project, and apparently even the successful ones can get canned by someone like the creator's line manager.

Hell I was on Google Wave for the few months it was a thing.@emsquared I thought it would be perfect for a client's needs, and I was working how to do that just as it got canned. Someone tried to fork it IIRC, but I assumed it died out.

1986's 'Music That You Can Dance To' is synth and sampler lead again and also sees the return of Russell's falsetto a bit .@emsquared
Same here. It feels like several lifetimes.

The comparative failure of 'Big Beat' and 'Introducing' caused the Mael brothers to rethink their direction.@emsquared
Like Snipcock and Tweed in Private Eye, not his best work.

Only just heard the rumour (denied by the BBC) that there had been exploratory talks to merge Channel 4 & the BBC.@emsquared
It remains to be seen how this government are going to handle the BBC's charter. I'd hope it was better than was probably going to happen under the Tories, but... -
Only just heard the rumour (denied by the BBC) that there had been exploratory talks to merge Channel 4 & the BBC.@emsquared One aspect would be that C4 doesn't have other outlets for its content, and (I also know nothing) I wonder if their online offerings like Walter Presents aren't doing as well as expected, and they're looking for a two way partnership.

Only just heard the rumour (denied by the BBC) that there had been exploratory talks to merge Channel 4 & the BBC.@emsquared C4 is struggling somewhat, which is why it closed down its music network in July (and 4Music, which has long been mostly another repeat channel). Also, S4C programming is on iPlayer and Clic is basically a rebadged iPlayer service. If C4 want to go digital first they would need to do something about their awful player as well, and I wouldn't doubt that ads can be injected into iPlayer.

ISDN was pretty common in the media business. FSOL were among the first music producers to see its potential, doing at least one live session on Radio 1 from their studio in Neasden. I think they played some gigs that way as well.

I had ISDN when I had more money than sense through contracting and it was a revelation but it was still incredibly expensive at the time (especially if you had something on your network that dialled out a lot and you didn't notice).
