My brain really wanted to read it as "Tales of Arse," and my reaction would've been, "So... it's a game about the contemporary news cycle? Or modern politics? Or silicon valley, or something?!?"

Please follow me at @[email protected]Didn't leave it, per se, just thought it'd be fun to join the polymaths community and make it my main instance for the time being.
My only complaint about fosstodon is the typical 500-char Mastodon post limit. That just tripped me up all the time. I'd write a response, then have to break it up, often in the middle of a paragraph, often breaking up a maybe 1200-character toot into 4-5 toots, just because of where the break fell. It was really annoying.
I don't believe in toot-blogging, and I definitely don't intend on using the full 5000 characters, but I just like to respond freely without dealing with artificial limits.
Otherwise, let's do 144 characters like old-school Twitter if we want to have an actual restraint.
But that's just a minor gripe.

If I had a dollar for every hour I spent debugging strange code issues because of a trailing space....Very curious, in which language does a trailing space introduce breakage?

Please sir, please buy my Cybertruck. You know, for a brief time, I could get myself to believe that they were all the same stupid wheeled dumpster.
But now I see them with different color schemes and other adornments, and I am forced to conclude that people around me are just that wealthy and stupid.

Here's a #bash pop quiz.My understanding is that
test
|[ ]
was branched off into[[ ]]
for string/filename analysis/comparison, and(( ))
for numerical operations.[[ ]]
does seem to retain the legacy-gt
|-lt
operators oftest
|[ ]
, which is kinda cursed, admittedly. -
Here's a #bash pop quiz.But
test
is analogous to[ ]
, not[[ ]]
. -
Here's a #bash pop quiz.Disagree. The whole point of the
[[ ]]
syntax is to examine and compare strings (and also filenames). There's no expectation of numerical or boolean analysis. Now, if you said that bash is cursed because of the string substitution syntax, I'm with you on that one. Its horrifying.

Me reading a physical #book, but also turning the pages on my #Kobo to still track my reading statsIncorrect. Some things work beautifully, and are fully resplendent in their functional derpiness.
Take, for example, Go's date strings.
That is peak derpiness. Yet functional.
