@renwillis Keep in mind, Mastodon, along with the other server softwares, has made massive strides in being easier to use and understand in the past two years. I think a lot of those people are talking about not understanding how to initially populate their feed and not understanding how to navigate cross-server interactions, but I also wonder how many of the people who say it's not user-friendly tried it 2 years ago when they were trying to leave Twitter in a rage and either were too frustrated to give it a good shot or were confused by something that is no longer confusing.It's also possible that people attempting to use Mastodon primed them for some understanding of signing up for a social media Network: keep in mind that a lot of these people had not joined any social networks outside of making a Twitter account years ago.
