@Nicro This would be about smartphone flashing though.@Nicro This would be about smartphone flashing though. There indeed is a risk to break the device… which entirely is the fault of manufacturers and platform developers not making the process safe in any shape or form, of course. Yet, the problem is there and common people neither can't nor should be put at this risk of killing their own stuff in a process they do not understand (and should not HAVE to).
The goal should be to provide affordable, accessible, secure devices from the get-go.

I hope that, one day, #accessibility won't be an uphill battle anymore within the larger #FOSS communities, including for those who simply don't WANT to become IT nerds just to have some privacy…@pteryx @Drayventhal Indeed, it would be one of the first things that have to get fixed! Hope the few contributors can do it soon themselves.

It's very unfortunate Scribus ain't where it has to be - like I said, I think I once read that they are having trouble finding enough support. Other than f.e. GIMP who got slow but steady progress, Scribus is too specific for now.
Hope this changes with improved Linux usage on desktop in the future.

In #Android 13 / #e_OS 2 T, can I somehow disable the weird stretching animation that happens when you hit the end of a website or any other box / list? Where the content of your whole screen gets stretched? In #Android 13 / #e_OS 2 T, can I somehow disable the weird stretching animation that happens when you hit the end of a website or any other box / list? I found a way to disable *all* animations, but that looks awful as well. That stretching effect is a sin against everything that's holy including my eyes and I want it to stop.

Mozilla's CEO doubles down on them being an advertising company now.@kerplunk @deathkitten @jwz Given Mozillas fuckery recently there are some new web engines in the making… but they ain't ready yet.
It really is time for some capable org to hard-fork though… perhaps someone should petition @eff or some other to do so. Mozilla is just full of shit at this point.

Hi!@coegho Looks like you already got some nice initial progress there!

@Natanox that is good but the project is about replacing Google services. Main focus on Mura cloud and theiar the shitshow bins.@i3le Show me a store I can buy a degoogled (or otherwise privacy-enabled), highly compatible, modern, new Smartphone (incl. warranty and 14-day return policy) with software and cloud amenities included in a way even the most mid boomer understands for 200€ that's objectively better than /e/OS' offering.
(I don't want to be such a Murena chill btw, I simply try to argue objectively and in favour of a non-tech'y person)

I hope that, one day, #accessibility won't be an uphill battle anymore within the larger #FOSS communities, including for those who simply don't WANT to become IT nerds just to have some privacy…@Drayventhal Accessibility, affordability, compatibility, security… it's a lot of things.
FOSS people are good at some more than others, but what way too many of them lack of a sense for accessibility. Some just expect everyone to be as nerdy as them and put 20 hours into setting up their PC or smartphone because hey, if they care for themselves they should do that, right? And then of course there are the "it's good enough" crowd when it comes to professional software alternatives… arrrgh.

@Natanox that is good but the project is about replacing Google services. Main focus on Mura cloud and theiar the shitshow bins.@i3le That's why I already told you *twice* that your goal should be to to put pressure on Murena to fix their shit, NOT to point people to something they either can't afford, can't viably access or, in the worst case, even both!
Having a device for 200€ is at least something everyone can access within the realms of "budget" smartphones, even if it ain't perfect. It also gives people a glimpse over the edge of big tech; it's an enabler.
You basically just said "get money or get good". Wtf.

I worry often about the UX of #godotengine.@adriaan That explains some inconsistencies. I keep getting confused by the scripts shown in the editor as they're displayed independent from what you selected as scene or node in the other menu right now.
I.e. moving around using the header menu changes the main content window, however not the sidebars. Especially confusing if you selected a node with a lot of properties while also working on a script with properties that however are from something completely different.

"Just buy specific phone Dabadu and skibidi the PARIS "IridiumOS" on it with this WebXYZ tool after doing these 5 (weird) simple steps while ignoring warnings from the WuwuzelaLoader that your Dabadu phone might break if you proceed" IS NOT OKAY.
#smartphone #privacy -
@Natanox that is good but the project is about replacing Google services. Main focus on Mura cloud and theiar the shitshow bins.@i3le That's privileged as all hell.
Just because I want to live in a nice house doesn't mean I have to learn how it was build or how to install a window.
If I had an interest in craftsmanship then I wouldn't mind. I don't though, so I want it to be nice from the get-go.Same with technology. Not everyone has to learn everything, our lives ain't long enough for that - especially for seniors, assumably.
They want it to just work. But they ALSO deserve actual privacy. It *has* to be available.
-
@Natanox that is good but the project is about replacing Google services. Main focus on Mura cloud and theiar the shitshow bins.@i3le @e_mydata Then tell them they have to do better in terms of security, but don't argue as if GrapheneOS would be in any shape or form an alternative in terms of affordability *and* accessibility. Because that's what this thread was about, their (current) 200€ phone that comes with all the features expected from a current smartphone by the average person.
-
@Natanox that is good but the project is about replacing Google services. Main focus on Mura cloud and theiar the shitshow bins.@i3le It's not about caring, I'm arguing for people who don't *know* and therefore are afraid to do something wrong.
Just because I don't want to replace a broken part of my (theoretical) car's engine myself it's not that I'm not caring, but I don't want to screw it up or simply don't have the time or nerves to do it.
Arguing otherwise is simply disrespectful towards people.
-
@Natanox that is good but the project is about replacing Google services. Main focus on Mura cloud and theiar the shitshow bins.@i3le So we have to either throw accessibility or affordability out of the window.
And then there's also the difference between buying a used phone from someone (with all its connected risks and lowered support window) and buying new directly from a store where you got warranty.
