    • NodeBB admin panel forum software update?

Are there plans to have an easy way to update ones website, i.e. through pressing an update button, as opposed to having to do not-always-straightforward file manipulations on the server. If there's anything to draw from modern web applications, this is one of those things. 👍

At this moment, for example, my board is 0.7.2, and my web developer is gone. You may have already implemented this in 8.1 but I wouldn't know, since I haven't a clue how to update... xD

Got it. 🙂 I'll just wait for a new version... is there an ETA on version releases or will I be better off manually updating? ^_^

Hmm, there is no such option in mine, running NodeBB v0.7.0. Either you wrote your version wrong, or I have a ridiculously old version (which I downloaded like a week ago).

I don't want certain groups to be visible to the public. Is there any way to hide them?

    • Update Request for Topic Colors

Is there any chance someone could update the Topic Color, Colors, or Blue Posts plugin? Ideally I'd like to be able to color topics (and the text therein) created by individuals of a certain group (being able to set a unique color per group would be ideal but if they were all blue that'd be an acceptable compromise). Topic Color ("Colorify Topics") seems to almost work but there is an issue with selecting the allowed groups to color their topics, and even after finally being able to do so I have been unable to see any effects on my forums using the provided syntax.

      https://github.com/Toolito/nodebb-plugin-colors
      https://github.com/esiao/nodebb-plugin-topic-color
      https://github.com/psychobunny/nodebb-plugin-blue-posts

Is this simple enough for someone to whip up and do for free?

      Thanks!

@psychobunny The problem is that with the ACP Post-section feature, you can only add more text, but you can't modify existing text.

    • How do you modify what your website displays to users?

This is somewhat of a generic question about nodebb architecture since I seem to not understand how this software works at all. I am ancient web developer by today's standards and historically I've used forum software like phpbb where you just edit a file and the change is reflected on the site right away. But here all site content must be stored in a database or something?

For example, when you are posting a new topic there is in small writing "COMPOSE" with a question mark next to it. Clicking that question mark lets you know the forum is powered by markdown (in my case) and a link to the documentation. I want to update that section a bit to show a few examples of the syntax to get people started. How do I do that?
I ran a grep for the specific statement and found it to be in /node_modules/nodebb-plugin-markdown/index.js. Editing that, deactivating and reactivating the plugin, and reloading the board had no effect on the text displayed (even after clearing all browser content and forcing a reload). I also tried to update the footer in a similar manner, to no avail.

Where do I have to edit things so they are reflected on the site?

    • How do you show a user's group next to their name?

Is there a settings option or plugin which enables the group to be displayed next to a users name? For example, in this post user pichalite is in the 'PLUGIN & THEME DEV' group. I have several users in groups on my board but their groups are not displayed next to their name as above. Is there a special way to enable this?

      Thanks
