Is there a way that I can save the plugins I install through the ACP on Amazon S3?

I currently host my forum on Heroku and it seems to default the theme when I have been offline for a long period of time. It does not delete the plugins though, a quick restart usually places everything back to where it was.

This last time I reconnected it was showing me the persona theme even though I'm using the slick theme. Has this happened to anyone else?

Heroku also has a free tier and it is the easiest setup I've found.

Is it possible to create plugins for this theme?
Would be cool to see a ticker plugin to stream any new/recent posts instead of a large recent cards plugin like that of the persona theme.

This would keep the slick style and fit nicely under the navbar.

On mobile devices the notifications aren't immidiately shown unless you click on the side panel. It would be nice to see a notification marker of some sorts on the navbar.

@julian what if this file could be broken up categorically? Export what you need? I would only require user info to be exported. I can manually set up pluggins since sometimes some break and therefore wouldn't want to upgrade my forum until those plugins are resolved.

Would user data alone create such a large file?

@scottalanmiller I do this with my Ghost blog updates. I prep and test the new version and when it's up and running I export the data from the old blog and import it into the new version. Once I see that no errors occur I deploy it into the production repo. It's a pretty smooth transition.

@julian what about being able to export the data as a json file so that we can just import it into a fresh new version of NodeBB?

It would be very cool to see an update button on the dashboard of the ACP. Having to update the forum using the command line can be very difficult for some.

Has this been suggested already?

@psychobunny I ended up starting from scratch and destroyed the database I was using and created a new one. Working on Heroku makes this very simple to do.

Two things I can't seem to get working now are my recent cards plugin and email services.

I also haven't managed to figure out how to upload cover images or profile photos. I get the "invalid mime type" alert.

I'm having issues with a recent deploy to Heroku.
When I try running my app it says that I have installed a unrecognized theme. Could this be a database problem? Everything was working until this last deploy. Please, if anyone could help me out that would be great.

I was wondering if anyone could make use of a "Marketplace" or plugin catalog to search for plugins. Maybe we can start a package manager with this repo?

I want to break them up into categories but so far I have created one for themes and plugins.

@Doppy This sounds like you have made changes to your database settings.

Have you tried installing [email protected] using -g?
It would be something like this.
npm install -g [email protected]

I can't upload photos for a person's profile or cover photo.
Is anyone else having this problem?

@PitaJ This sounds like it could potentially be problematic if it is left in the NodeBB repo .gitignore.

I cloned it straight from the github repo, newbies could be wondering why their heroku build isn't working. This could be useful info for the tutorial if it isn't on it already.

@PitaJ So the build file needs to be exposed?
I was just a little confused to see it in .gitignore.
Heroku kept throwing "crashed app" errors but I didn't want to remove it without knowing if it would cause a security issue. But then I decided to exhaust all of my options by removing it.

@liberaltech Emoji's stopped working so I had to do a restart.

I was having trouble deploying to Heroku but then I removed the "build" directory from my .gitignore file and everything worked perfectly.

I even added it back on to the .gitignore for the next push and it was still working.

I have some questions:
A. Is this normal?
B. Should I be worried about my app security wise?
C. What happen?

Also, when using mongodb (mongolab) there seems to be something wrong with the database. I am using a "username" which redis doesnt require.
For all the deploys I have been running ./nodebb setup right before git push.

I thought I would open a discussion since I spent the majority of last night trying to figure it out.

FYI: I have it up and running at the moment without any issues.
I have it working with a Amazon S3 bucket and redistogo.
All emojis and fontawesome icons work.
Themes and plugin installs work too.
