@oceane Yeah, it's less about the existence of the software and more about my lack of time to deal with the long-term admin requirements of self-hosting, which I think is something a lot of people run into. (I'd have been so happy to pay Omnivore to keep hosting + support their OSS work, but that's not what they wanted.)

@Caution @oliphant I think everyone who feels sketchy about them is behaving rationally, though I think some people are wrong about details. Bsky hasn’t solved sustainability, which means they and all their users are precarious. Given that they already have 12m people, I’m obviously hoping they figure it out—or that the ecosystem grows fast enough for other ATP services to catch the userbase if Bsky dissolves or degrades. (Fedi should also be building to catch them.)
