nodebb-plugin-category-sections - v1.10.2 -
new hereHello there!
NodeBB is designed to work best under a virtual private server. Using a traditional hosting service is not recommended as they do not have the capabilities to power NodeBB effectively.
- The code and instructions can be found here at our project repository
- Full instructions can be found in our Documentation Portal
- We recommend DigitalOcean to host your NodeBB, you'll get a month free just by registering with this link. You can also try applying the 10TOSHIP coupon to get another two months free.
Thank you for your interest in NodeBB!

NodeBB v3.0.0-alpha.1 โ an alpha release@volanar said in NodeBB v3.0.0-alpha.1 โ an alpha release:
It remains to remove jqwery and it will be perfect!
That'd be nice, although there are some things that are easier to write in jQuery parlance. That's not necessarily a reason to keep jQuery around, of course.
Also I have a sneaking suspicion that even if we did remove it, someone would write a plugin that immediately re-adds it

Mobile UI bug.Guys, this notifications bug should be fixed on latest persona (though I'm not sure if you need latest core for it)
The others are still outstanding

nodebb-plugin-composer-quill: WYSIWYG alternative to redactorThe emoji autocomplete works now. Will have to create a new Emoji Blot in Parchment to handle the proper classes and such... but theoretically should be fine.

How many instances can I host on 512Mb RAM digitalocean droplet?@zg We just started on Redis, that's all. This forum was converted to MongoDB awhile back, but we support both at this point in time.

NodeBB v3.0.0-alpha.1 โ an alpha releaseAdded in a note about plugins not being automatically updated by
./nodebb upgrade
. Admins will need to manually upgrade them during the alpha/beta/rc phases prior to v3. -
/unread title links go to first post in topic, should go to the newestAnd so this is why we ended up having the topic title go to first post, and timestamp go to last... it's really something that not everybody would like one way or the other.
I'd go for a userland option to toggle the behaviour, but I'd prefer the default to stay as "go to first post"

NodeBB v3.0.0-alpha.1 โ an alpha release@phenomlab Thanks for the feedback! I'll update the original post with some instructions shortly
Alternatively, you could download the .zip or
.tar.gz
archive and replace your NodeBB directory with those files, though you'd have to take care to preserve thepublic/uploads
folder.Edit: Done.

/unread title links go to first post in topic, should go to the newestSounds like it's time for a poll
-
Guest is able to create topic and was able to post in a topicThat could work. I'm not really in favour of using "guest" to denote deleted users, as they technically weren't guests when posting, and aren't guests anymore either.

We have taken a number of approaches to the design and are close to showing off another preview very soon (an actual one with real content!)

in 1.5.0 entering www. gives error "Looks like your connection to [sitename] was lost, please wait while we try to reconnect."I'd personally use a 302 just in case.
return 302 http://domain.tld$request_uri;

Purging topicsIs that a custom theme? Perhaps that option was removed from the template...

Which installation method used for this forum?@askar Yes, Ubuntu, precisely
@Joel-Murphy We don't use Docker, actually. I went for LXC instead for our hosted services, and our community forum is a custom install (as we didn't have hosted services when we started this forum).
We really ought to transition it over to our SaaS services. Where do I send the bill?

December 2022 Design Preview (Harmony Theme)I'll try to be ahead of the game here โ some of you may be thinking that this looks generic.
You might be right! It's tough to strike a good balance between novel and traditional.
- Our first theme was vanilla, which used blocks reminiscent of Metro UI
- Our second theme was lavendar, which displayed post previews on the home page arranged via masonry
- Our third (and current) theme is persona, which uses a more traditional forum index design.
The moment Persona became the default, we stopped receiving
complaintssuggestions that we implement a more traditional forum index. With Harmony, we're sticking with what works, but pushing the boundaries in some smaller elements that we think will really improve the user experience.Harmony needed to strike a balance between being too out there (hence unthemeable), and too boring. The key here is the use of sensible defaults via Bootstrap that don't enforce their opinion on you, hopefully allowing it to be themed much more easily.
