Since there seems to be renewed interest in podcasting cross-app-comments over #ActivityPub, I've done a brain dump over here with a current perspective on the high-level of how it all works and to clear up a bit of terminology being thrown around.

imo the comments scenario is ready to build against (that's what I focus on here) with the ability for custom podcast-specific objects/fields down the road, using the same federated channel.

If you are writing #ActivityPub stuff, and interacting with existing implementations, you'll need to figure out http request signing - used for signing/verifying fetches.

@dave why would this be necessary? we already have rss feeds for podcasts, and canonical pointers (feed urls, guids, apple ids)

imo activitypub is the social layer, not some sort of alternate view of the same data - it's not a one to one sort of exercise

curious: why did you have to migrate from node -> deno?

@hongminhee it does json-ld processing under the hood - the idea is to bubble up errors/recommendations to the ui as well, workin on it 🧑‍

@julian, can you add "https://w3id.org/security/v1" to your ActivityPub context?

e.g. from: "@context": "https://www.w3.org/ns/activitystreams"

the 'publicKey' term is not defined in activitystreams

alright just pushed some fixes/workarounds for nodebb

I'll eventually bubble up some warnings in the visual view, but for now at least it renders!
