@futurebird @VaylLarkinPoet Spinning off from the main thread here—I agree that Mastodon needs better mobile clients. Handhelds are the way the vast majority of internet users interact. Unfortunately the current Mastodon community seems to be heavily populated by the group that tends to use larger screens.

I’m using Toot! on iOS even though it hasn’t been supported for ages because it’s still waaaay better than the other half dozen or so Mastodon clients I tried first. Selfishly I wish that an somebody with experience in mobile development would revive the Toot! project. I would happily donate to such an effort.

@codemonkeymike Me having low testosterone isn’t life-threatening. I could live a long life without testosterone supplements. That, to me, is the definition of elective.

The statistics around trans suicide suggest that not receiving gender-affirming care is life-threatening. So I call BS here too.

I’m sitting in the doctor’s office waiting to receive my testosterone booster—a non-event for me as a cis male. Just another data point for the despicable cruelty of denying the same hormone to my trans brothers. All in the name of gaining political advantage by creating moral panic. Disgusting.

Does anybody have a good source to find organizations surplussing their old computer/network gear? I’ve got an experiment in mind where I could use a pile of old PCs and maybe a little network gear.

I’ve had multiple independent conversations with friends in the tech industry that all boil down to feeling torn between wanting to do something that makes the world better and needing a job that supports our families. I know I’m in that place.

There is a lot of tech talent out there looking for a good mission.
