Ed and I were aware that this could alter our friendship for the worse but we successfully navigated those obstacles. We worked together on stuff…and I saw him scuffle to deal with a structure he couldn’t fully adapt to

When I joined the team in January I wanted to help Ed be the best version of himself. By being there he had someone who understood him really well and could pair with him on tasks and also stay in a better headspace

Today is my last day that I get to work with @funkatron. ZiffDavis was offering voluntary buyouts, Ed was having a rough time on the team and trending towards getting fired, so he took the package (which I recommended to him that he do).

It’s hard watching a friend get done dirty by a programming community. There is a lesson here about writing complementary tooling for a framework where the creators work to monetize their stuff. No shame in making money but Joe got abandoned despite all the work he’s done.
