@schwach I have two installations dependent on this image and I am stuck as there are no updates for a while, i wouldn't advise using it.
I'm still looking for an efficient way to setup a docker-compose file that can be used to update with new release (both nodebb and mongodb). I wish updating nodebb was much simpler, i have an old forum started from 1.7, it has been such a pain keeping it up to date because of the need of dependencies.
I was updating a forum from 1.18.3 to 2.5.3 today and still faced the same issue with npm 8. So downgraded to 6 to keep it working/upgrading

One of our forums gets a lot of spam. We have enabled Post queue to only approve the posts that are non spam manually. We are now in a situation where that queue is so big that when ever I access the /post-queue url. It crashes the forum.
I tried to find a way to manage this via mongo cli by removing all posts through database. e.g any post that has an external url is most likely spam. Unfortunately https://docs.nodebb.org/development/database-structure/ doesn't point out the the exact structure I would utilise to write above kind of query.
I couldn't find a api endpoint to manage this programmatically too.
All i need is to get the list of posts in the queue with their body message and pointer on what relevant documents to delete to remove the notification from the post queue and post.

@phenomlab No worries, this is still a pain point for me.
I have been using above technique on a couple of forums via widgets but it is not ideal. It works well for desktops and larger screens but for mobile we have to push the secondary menu items into the top default menu (stock menu) via JS due to the real estate issue. So yes it is possible, but not ideal as it doesn't load sometimes for mobile users if there is a js error in any of the third party services (like ads).
I also tried updating the stock header via persona tpl files, but i've been burned as the theme structure updates frequently with new releases. I've learned to avoid overwriting the templates.
The best approach would be to have this ability in the core to handle either multi level navigation or a better responsive setup which can hold relatively larger number of menu items.
Mega menus are pretty common in majority of websites these days and if nodebb team supports them it would solve the issue. e.g https://geedmo.github.io/yamm3/
