@chris @RandomCanuck Obviously the die is cast in your case, but are there good alternatives to rubber liners for garden ponds? Maybe something like a clay layer?

It’s official!@chris @Keicowku @Amgine It depends what part of Nanaimo, I think. It sprawls up, but the center is reasonably compact and you get out of it pretty quickly. I've never lived there, though, only visited, so I may have an incomplete picture.
I had similar complaints as you from living in Victoria and Toronto, so maybe it's just a Canadian city problem.
