Many criticisms about the Open Source Initiative's Open Source AI Definition have reached my feeds at FLOSS.social. I was confused.For those like me unsure of the basis of these criticisms, I'd recommend this article (thanks @downey ). @downey Sustainability is hard and there is not one universal rulebook for how to do it. I think there is room to call people in rather than call people out.In the grand scheme of things, would selling plushies be the game-changing fundraising model to push for major improvements? Probably not.Yet do I admire the effort to build for more sustainability? Yes. Do I think we already ask a lot of maintainers to sustain their work and add features? Yes.Our FLOSS world is special, but hard.
