I've seen a lot of discussion this week, about GNOME and accessibility.@neil I don't think money (or lack of it is the problem).
It's not about fixing bugs in software. We need to fix the people and processes.
If a major distro (eg. Fedora) with a steering committee, #accessibility team and a formal release process does not notice their screenreader is broken on install or consider it a blocking bug, money won't help.
Reporting bugs or fixing them once solves nothing, as next time there's a release something else will break.

Landmark ruling could threaten future UK oil drilling@christineburns Interesting use of the words "threaten future" in that headline.

UK mastodon: register to vote in UK general election!@andymoose Odd. We both registered online and signed up for our postal votes. You need your old voting address in the UK, but it was pretty quick when we did it. We received confirmation by email within a day or so.
Of course, I have no idea if our votes are ever counted. The postal service to/from the UK is so woefully unreliable.

@nlnet Congratulations @Uilebheist !@nlnet Congratulations @Uilebheist !
Having seen your work on many file/block syncing and data recovery projects over the years I'm excited to see where this goes, and especially excited to see something being built using the @librecast #multicast libraries!
Just one thing:
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT WRITE IT IN INTERCAL

Running some bandwidth tests on Librecast's router API on my laptop just to check things are sane.Running some bandwidth tests on Librecast's router API on my laptop just to check things are sane.
Getting ~8.1Gbps sending on one socketpair(2) connected to a Librecast Router and reading from another socketpair on another port.
For comparison, sending directly through a single AF_UNIX socketpair gives me ~9.3Gbps.
A straight memcpy yields ~23.3Gbps.
That seems reasonable, so I'm not going to bother optimizing anything just yet. There's always going to be some overhead from epoll/kevent etc

I am four episodes into "Halt and Catch Fire", and I'm really enjoying it so far.Not really a spoiler. Just put the CW there so that we can say rude things about Neil in here.
I'll go first. I think he probably has knobbly knees.

Apparently that can be rather loud.

What happens if you magnetise a CyberTruck? Asking out of personal curiosity.@benno They already are magnitised, judging by how repellant they are.

New (@decodedlegal) blogpost: The UK's draft Code of Practice for Software Vendors@neil @decodedlegal I wonder when web design companies will start to pay attention. Most have probably never considered themselves in the software business, but so many will deploy WordPress or Drupal with a pretty theme and then provide no maintenance. Many seem to have no plan except to wait until the site gets inevitably cracked.

Mail Clients should always show the email address of corespondents instead of the Name. That would make it much easier to verify authenticity.@hexmasteen At 18 years old, that bug is old enough to vote for itself

Living in France, the figure that concerns me the most in the European elections is not the 31.37% who voted for the fascist RN.@necrophcodr "voting blank" or spoiling your ballot is like abstention in every way, except that you also waste some of your own time and other peoples to do so.

Living in France, the figure that concerns me the most in the European elections is not the 31.37% who voted for the fascist RN.@Uilebheist Aye. I'll accept there are always a few ppl who can't vote for some reason, but 48.5% seems like a lot of CBA.

Oddly enough, that doesn't make me feel any better about the result.
