I'd love to read about modern apple growing. Here in Ontario over the last 15 years I've seen a huge change in how apples are grown. There used to be individual trees in an orchard; now there are apple "vines", branches grown along wires strung in parallel rows like grape vines. And there is a large mechanical harvester that runs between rows instead of people on ladders in trees. I think apple yield per hectare must be double what it used to be.

If I were to spend the last two weeks of October slowly sharing my favorite pieces of uh, apple-related (tree not tech) journalism, would anyone…enjoy that? -
Dear all Canadians and also all Fediverse Citizens! -
I wish more people who are worried about FOSS supply side attacks would realize that universal basic income and free healthcare would result in an almost infinite stream of excellent software from people who care more about quality than profit. The shitty jobs still exist and still need to get done, even when there's #UBI. The difference is, with UBI people can say "No" to shitty jobs with poor pay. So to get the shitty jobs done they have to pay enough so people want to do them. UBI makes shitty jobs a bit less shitty.
