@daftcyborg users automatically watch topics they create. So yes that notification option does what you want.
Solved Mobile - Question hidden when replying

In mobile devices when a user replies, the query is not shown. Is it possible to show the query in composer window for mobile devices ?

In mobile or desktop, use quote instead of reply and you will get the content of the post you are replying to in the composer.
