I m currently following these two links

Setting Up NodeBB on Digital Ocean

Is there anything else that I need to follow to host NodeBB on digital ocean with mongodb as database?
I m reading through the NodeBB docs and following the links by order but was wondering is there anything else that I need to know about?
And the digital ocean guide is 2 years old and wondering if there's changes in things that I m not aware of.

https://github.com/NodeBB-Community/nodebb-plugin-email-blacklist - didn't test it with 1.13, but I think it should work considering it was updated 4 moths ago.

Cool. Has not been a big issue for me (most problem accounts come from gmail, yahoo, hotmail, etc. - shells hidden w/in shells like Russian dolls) but it is an election year and I expect things to become increasingly nasty for community forum sites. Thanks for the tip. 👍

Hey all,
I had never used Mongoose before but I know it is used for schema and validation. I was wondering though if anyone knew off chance if it could be added to NodeBB's database without it interfering with how it currently operates? I came across this backend administrative application called ForstAdmin and I was thinking about trying to see if I could add it into my current install. The application itself is made to integrate into an application you already have up and running, but that is under the assumption you are already have Mongoose and are using Express. I might spin up another board just to give it a go and see what happens, lol.

@v4 This is a risk with any application, and NodeBB is no exception. Think "zero-day exploits" and applications which accidentally let someone "break out" of the environment. It's obviously something we patch and code against, but finding them is often another matter 🙂

We maintain an email specifically for handling these issues: [email protected]. If you've located an exploit vector, email use privately there, and we'll get it fixed up!
