Import from a mailing list archive

    Hi,

    I would like to make an experiment importing data in my NodeBB forum from a mailing list archive.

    I haven't seen any specific plugin for that.

    Did someone already made something like that ?
    Any orientations or guidance to do that myself if there's nothing for that ?

    Nothing like that exists. But mainly because it's quite a finite feature that not everyone would have a use for. If it's a one off import, look at other import plugins and amend the data to suit your structure. Repeat import would be a little more work I imagine.

    Thank you @a_5mith, that's what I imagined but I think it's worth asking before putting some energy in that :).
    I'll follow your advice and take a look at other import plugins.

    @eveh Make sure the spiders pseudo-group is grant permission to view topics... otherwise NodeBB hides them. spiders are not treated the same as registered-users or guests

    By default they should have access, though.

    @phenomlab as I said we would first have to decide what to put there instead of the hardcoded formula. A fixed number? a percentage of user's reputation? another formula that I would have to parse?

    What would you prefer?
    Cause if the problem is that the users complain and you just want to completely remove this limit, well, a toggle to disable this limitation would be the ideal solution.
    If instead you like having a limit but you just want a fixed one, like 100, well, then let's have an input there to set the limit that overrides the formula.
    Or you could also say: I like that the limit depends on how much reputation the user has but instead of a 10% of that reputation I want a 20%.
    Or even more flexible and complex, I want my own formula.

    In summary, what is your use case? What do you want to do with this limit?

    Instead of starting new topic, just thought I would just reply back on this existing topic.

    Anyone? is there a plugin or tweak to show vote up/down button on topic list? And also sort the topics by date added.

    ahwayakchih already signed NodeBB Individual Contributor Assignment Agreement so hopefully by the end of the month we will try to migrate from IP.Board to NodeBB. We're moving it from old server to the new one so all other things have to be updated.

    We're waiting for NodeBB 0.7 to be released and for UTF8 Converter in already great nodebb-plugin-import tool.
