Adding a verification step via Node API for registration.

Would it be possible for a plugin to modify the registration process? If so, how would one go about that?

I need to verify that a user owns a nation using the NationStates API. There is a Node wrapper for the NS API, but I need to know how I would go about adding that.

Could anyone assist, even some strong pointers would help.

I think you may, in theory, check how other plugins works it like nodebb-plugin-registration-question, and try to do change it in your way
