How to Kick Start a Forum?
-
Hi All,
So I've got my awesome NodeBB forum up and running. Thank you nodebb developers - love the project.
I've written some blog posts, created some discussion topics, done some bits on the twitters.
However, Im not getting much traffic from Google or other search engines.
What is the best way to really start a forum off?
Any help or feedback would be most welcome:

@teh_g thanks dude. I've been doing a bit of bing ads but to generate a reasonable amount of traffic (in cryptocurrency) costs about 25p per click - which would get quite expensive at the end of the month and there's no revenue from the site yet.
Twitter is being a bit slow too seeing as I have < 100 followers.

I am about to do the same thing myself. I am taking my YouTube channel, slightly re-branding it and launching a NodeBB and GhostCMS site. I am still trying to set it up on AWS at the moment. I am attempting to dive into the deep end with a full cloud setup. I only have 1K subscribers, very few social media followers, so I don't think I'll be bringing in much right away. I am going to basically BEG some friends to be active on there to stimulate conversation.
Outside of that, I am hoping SEO from the blog helps. I want to do my best to encourage engagement and add as much social interactivity as possible in the site as I can.
Accessibility is another key focus. I do not know if it is built in yet or not, but I am considering if I would want some kind of "add to home screen" button. And when would be an appropriate time to show it.

I'm a little lucky and I just host my site for a handful of people to chat on, so I don't need to worry too much. I did a bit of Google AdWords with some free credit, but it did nothing for me.
