Probably you have a few plugins who have enabled sanitizing feature. For example: markdown, bbcodes.

@TylerGamesTV I think the main problem for your issues is that you are using C9 to host NodeBB.
Did you ever considered using a real hosting service like DO, OVH or Vultr? -
