I think I now read multiple conference organizers who struggle to sell tickets to their conferences.

None of them mentioned to make the events accessible for immunocompromised people and those who don’t want to get infected with a multi-organ virus.

I used to pay hundreds of Euros every year to attend events, since 2020 I have spent zero. You don’t want me there and that’s your decision. But don’t expect me ever to come back.

@matuzo @Thain @aardrian Because the APG examples are: “If you were held hostage and the only way to get out of your predicament is to make {component name} but you CANNOT use HTML under all circumstances, what would you do?”

They are ARIA examples, and unfortunately because the work is member sponsored, look much slicker than the better (but not perfect) Tutorials that I helped to create. All those patterns were on my list for Tutorials.

Apart from creating custom UI elements, you shouldn’t need to use the role attribute at all.

Edit: Oh, and live regions. role="alert" and role="status" are often a better choice than using aria-live.

@andycarolan Yup, basically Apple didn’t ship it because it could be seen as a vendor lock-in feature and that they would need to open it to 3rd parties which would be a security nightmare. So we are just no allowed to do it.

@mahryekuh I don’t know if there’s anything to improve there. It’s more about preference. I have hours where I almost never use my trackpad, and hours where I use it exclusively. And then instances where I switch from one input to another depending on what feels right in that situation.

I have to ask, because apparently a lot of people don’t use the keyboard to navigate websites at all. I do it all the time.

@bastianallgeier @matthiasott The actual digging went relatively fast in the spring. But it seems like they only start connecting the houses once the infrastructure is done? It didn’t help that they had to re-lay and re-pave several streets because they did a bad job the first time around.
