@dysfun I didn't realize codeberg even existed. I think I may switch some projects over.

you know the purge of 'woke' software is coming to github eventually, right?@dysfun It's really past time for someone to sort out how to have a public source repository that's not tied to a particular company. (Though honestly I'm not sure how. I remember the days pre-github and that was basically lots of single project repos hosted wherever folks could scrounge up some space)

Your handy pushback of the day:Your handy pushback of the day:
"Let's not log that/stop logging that. Handling extra data is expensive and we're dedicating our resources to our new AI initiatives."
Extra double handy for logged data that may be... somewhat interesting to fascist-inclined individuals and organizations.

I am somewhat less disappointed, because resistance is *hard*, especially when you're not prepared.@randomgeek oh, yeah, collaborators can fuck off into the sun. Still, though, a lot of people will freeze when pushed for bad but not too horrible thing and start going, and once you start you tend to follow through. Those are the people (including possibly me, which is why I have thought about this kind of thing already) who need to plan in advance.

This is why you *should* be prepared in advance, rather than having to try and work out your limits and means of resistance on the fly.
Think ahead. Consider your likely situations and your options now, when you're not directly under stress.

incredibly disappointed in the folks who have the technical skills to be sand in the gears here, and instead are collaborating. https://infosec.exchange/@josephcox/113941826255934073

Life In the South: My local Democratic Party sent out an email today welcoming the start of Black History Month.@jalefkowit It was why I opted for a call rather than an email, since it's more work and I assume taken more seriously.
The idea of sending a telegram is kinda amusing, though.

Life In the South: My local Democratic Party sent out an email today welcoming the start of Black History Month.@jalefkowit If I can actually call my representative (granted, in a deep blue state, but... call! On a phone!) you can go to a meeting and yell at boneheads being boneheads.

You can, if you're inclined (and I am) toss them money. As a bonus they're a 501(c)3 which means many US employers will match or partial match the donation *and* that it's tax deductible if you're inclined to enjoy a bit of irony.

The lapsed political scientist in me finds Brexit to be a fascinating case study, because:@jalefkowit It's utterly astounding how terrified politicians are of saying "this was a bad decision". I suspect that's well founded and in a lot of cases they'll be punished by the people who made the bad decision even if (especially if!) those people also know and admit the decision was bad.

I understand that you want to emphasize that your open source project has lots of financial backers.@jalefkowit At least it's pretty clear what the project's useful for so... yay? I guess?

Every time I see someone bring up "IQ scores" I feel the need to repeat: IQ scores were literally invented by eugenicists and they've always been biased towards privilege@cwebber The only thing IQ scores are good for is as a quick sorting function -- anyone who goes on about how high their IQ is can generally be dropped right into the "raging douchebag" category and ignored with some enthusiasm.

Hopefully they're read-only but I dunno. (On the upside I am now tempted to get a receiver and set it up to monitor the data but the fact that I *can* really isn't the greatest)
