I was trying to find this amazing video on the subject, sent to me by @JamesHeady but I could only find videos by non-disabled people, but I started learning about interdependence care when I started getting Disabled friends outside of the blind community. Listening to @FreakyFwoof latest episode and this gets me thinking about interdependence care. Ever since I was young, it was stressed to me, even to the degree of harm because I developed unhealthy pride and got into some very unsafe situations because my pride lead me to creating a toxic environment of internalized ableism for myself, that independence was the only way to go, but blind people when I was growing up did not want me to practice interdependence care. I was to be fully independent, at all times. I was never to ask for help, from anybody, and while I don't want to explain all the lonely situations that put me in, I'd like to illustrate how interdependence care can be beneficial.

I was at a disabled persons house the other day with a group of disabled people. They knew carrying things was going to be problematic for me, with my cane, and the plate stacked with food, so they asked me if they could carry the food while I helped someone else pour a drink they asked assistance for and couldn't physically do. I said yes, and soon, we all were helping each other out and no agency was removed from anybody. Interdependence care looks different from the traditional care model because agency isn't taken away from anybody. It allows us to get to know each other and our bodies, which is a very intimate space. But by allowing other people into that very intimate space, a whole new kind of person centric care can emerge. It allows me to utilize words without qualifiers because when I speak of spoons, these loved ones instantly know where I'm coming from because we all practiced interdependence care, which is a type of love that I haven't seen much. There's only care, and no judgment, and it's far less lonely than being independent.

Because I have no work to catch up on, I'm gonna try Linux again but does anyone have a blindness guide to VirtualBox? Hi all. I've been around the Fedi for a very long time, since about 2017 or so! I am a fully blind, gay, writer. I write romance and not erotica but I've dabbled in erotica.

My romance books feature insecure heroes and unapologetic angst. I write diverse romance, and this includes sexually inexperienced heroes. I write heterosexual and gay/LGBT+ romances including ASexual romances.

My romance books don't have a lot of smut but they do have a lot of romantic tension. I do write sex scenes but it's usually three or less pivotal sex scenes.

I write slow burn romances but I love reading instant love romances more

For the blind readers reading this, I learned Braille as an adult.

I love audiobooks and fiction podcasts. The mainstream web bores me beyond tears so I stick to the IndieWeb and blogs and blogging and the small web and the human focused web.

I blog about all kinds of things. Personal interactions, screen reader tutorials, book highlights by other fantastic romance writers of today. My blogs don't have a central topic so if you read me for my accessibility stuff exclusively, you'll be disappointed.

This isn't my main account. The most places I spend my time are on places such as my website, my mailing list, and virtual events not tied to social media.

I also Penpal with people, the snail mail way! I love exchanging food with people from other countries too!

I write all kinds of things. Short stories, huge letters, audio description scripts, novels and novellas, radio drama scripts and screenplays.

I work in the Accessibility space but honestly can't stand the corporate side of the Accessibility industry.

Now for the non-professional stuff.

In person, I'm the quietest one in the room.

In person, I'm very emotionally expressive and romantically, I'm very very very emotionally needy.

I can read an audiobook for 6 hours straight if I love the book that much.

I'm a cookie monster. I don't like chips very much. I love any kind of candy. I always wear some kind of shirt with a slogan or phrase on it such as, I write books that sizzle! Or, don't ban books. Instead, read them. Or, please hand hug me while giving me Compliments.

I do have a stutter but still do live lit events. I'm a digital nomad, literally. I enjoy being spoiled in all manners of the word.

I love putting chocolate kisses on Pizza. I will sometimes mix fruit drinks to see how they taste, I have stuffed Pokemon and stuffed animals in my bedroom. I'm terrible at sports, and am always helping someone out with something.

I abhor book censorship.

I'm a cat person! Dogs are cute but I'll never own one.
