saw a post that said something like "americans need to learn to care about their community" - and that's true but more specifically those of us who care need to learn how to analyze the reasons people don't seem to "care about their community" and attack those reasons directly.

it's really hard to give a shit about your immediate environment when it's constantly turned against you for the purposes of profit-making and there are so few good resources for people to turn to that actually get them in touch with the physical, geographical space they exist in; that help them become a part of it.

@alive i appreciate you outlining this! i think i share in your approach to thinking about how to manage those who would use it in a for-profit manner. my naive ass wasnt even thinking about the way open source shit might be used by companies. i was just stuck in the land of "wow i love people coming together to make accessible tools for the public"
